Zionists’ defeat in ground invasion worse than their failure in Operation Al-Aqsa Storm: Pres. Raisi

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has underscored that the recent defeat of the Zionist regime in their ground invasion of the Gaza Strip is worse than their failure in the Operation Al-Quds Storm.

President Raisi made the remark in an interview with Al Jazeera Arabic-language TV network on Sunday, noting that the Zionists launched an unprecedented and extensive strike against the Gaza Strip from air, sea, and land; however, despite financial and military support from the United States and certain European countries, the occupiers were forced to retreat, which is a big victory for the Palestinian nation.

Asked about Iran’s stance towards the Gaza conflict, he emphasized that the Islamic Republic has time and again announced that it will support the Palestinian resistance and that Tehran expects all Islamic nations and countries independent from the US hegemony to assist the oppressed Palestinians.

Answering a question on Iran’s response to the United States’ messages regarding the Gaza conflict, Raisi stated that resistance groups responded openly, but it is strange that Washington asks other nations not to get involved in the war while the US administration brazenly provides the Zionist regime with all weapons and equipment necessary to commit crimes in the Gaza Strip.

The Zionist regime and their American supporters will never succeed in eliminating the Palestinian resistance movement, because the resistance does not come from a particular individual or group but has its roots in the blood and soul of the Palestinian people, he argued.

According to President Raisi, it is vital to be aware of why the fake Israeli regime is committing such heinous atrocities against the Palestinian nation. It is because the suppressed people show the spirit of resistance and steadfastness, which proves their willingness to become martyr but not abandon their land to the occupying enemy.

So, in the present war of wills, on one side, there is a nation under coercion, tyranny, and brutality, and on the other side, there are the arrogant and oppressing entities, namely the US, the Israeli regime, and certain European states, Raisi said, adding that there is no doubt that the strong will of the Palestinians will emerge victorious, and the future belongs to Palestine and its determined nation.

He also lamented the Israeli regime’s war crimes, saying that the regime massacred women and children during heinous air strikes on hospitals, churches, mosques, and residential buildings, and even killed journalists and their families, which are all red lines that the Zionist regime crossed in recent weeks.

Hence, the issue of Palestine is the first matter of the Islamic world, he said, noting that the liberation of al-Quds city is a crucial and focal point for the Muslim nations, which should always be considered the most significant issue and concern of all Islamic states.

Pointing to the urgency of an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, breaking the siege of the besieged area, and providing the oppressed people with necessary assistance, Raisi said that collaboration, solidarity, and exchange of messages among leaders of the Islamic nations will help pursue such demands of the Islamic world regarding the Palestinians’ cause.
